It’s only February, but the Christmas break when we last recharged our batteries 🔋is only a distant memory.
And the Easter long weekend is barely on the horizon.
As humans and small business owners we need to recharge our own batteries regularly. Aussies are entitled to 4 weeks annual leave each year – we must remember to take it!
And we need to encourage our staff to take theirs too.
Not convinced? Leave entitlements are expensive to payout (at the current rate of pay – not the rate your team used to be paid) if you let it build up too much. How much would it cost to pay 4, 6 or 8 weeks extra wages to your staff when they finish up? Have you set aside funds to cover your annual leave liabilities? Not to mention long service leave. A large payout will really hit your cashflow.
What policies do you need to put in place to benefit everyone?
Check the limits for cashing out leave and if you plan to close your office for a period next Christmas you’ll need to give your team enough notice. What about a Easter – ANZAC day closure?
