Data Privacy Day

How are you keeping your private data secret?
How do you manage staff access to your systems? Do you have password protocols?
How much is stored on your phone? Can you kids access it (and perhaps even delete it)?
There are a couple of quick wins you can implement.
Use long and unique passphrases for your logins.

Using the same login details on multiple sites is risky – if one is hacked, the same combo will be tested across many sites to gain access.
Rumour has it, a golf club was hacked and the stolen details were used to access share trading sites, the hackers sold all the good stocks and bought up big in a tin pot operation they had bought into, lifting the value of their shares, which they instantly sold. The golfers had a hell of a time.

A long password or passphrase will be safer against brute force hacking, where a bot tries random combinations over and over. According to Practice Protect, an 8 character password can be cracked in 5 hours, and 11 characters would take 10 years.

There are a number of apps to help you remember or just save your passwords once you’ve changed them all.
