Director ID

No not for movie directors, for company directors.

ATO says: The director identification number (director ID) is a unique identifier that a director will apply for once and will keep forever. If you’re a director of a corporate trustee of a self-managed super fund (SMSF) you will need to apply for a director ID.
You will be able to apply for a director ID from November 2021 on the new Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) online and will log in using the myGovID app.
When you must apply for a director ID, depends on the date you became a director. You will need to apply for your director ID yourself to verify your identity. No one can apply for it on your behalf.

There is a transition system depending on when you become a director.

If on or before 31st October 2021 – you have until 30th November 2022.
If you become a director between 1st November 2021 and 4th April 2022 you must apply within 28 days of appointment.
If you become a director after 5th April 2022 – you need to apply before you are appointed.

While you can apply now, there is no need to panic if you are already a director, so maybe let others discover the bugs in the system and do a Steven Bradbury a bit later on?
