Technology Day

What is your favourite piece of tech?
What can you not live without?

It wasn’t that long ago that we had to make do with desktop software, and usually they didn’t talk to each other, which meant lots of double handling of info (and the risk of typos/errors/omissions). We started to adopt cloud tech in 2012 and love the freedom it gives us and our clients.

Remember paper ledgers? The ol’ kalamazoo system?
It really wasn’t that long ago that many small businesses were still paperbased – the introduction of GST in 2000 forced many businesses to upgrade their tech.

What about having to rely on landline phones? Sitting at the telephone table in the hallway?
Having to give people your home number, work number and perhaps a pager! Finding a phone box. With a functioning phone. Having coins. (who carries cash anymore?)

Technology has changed massively in our lifetimes. We can now run a business from a mobile phone! (Maybe even your whole life is contained in that phone!)
Trades businesses can ditch the carbon book and generate invoices from a phone or tablet while on site or from the carffice (car office).
Professional services businesses can appear bigger than they actually are and bring in experts to assist their clients as required, without having to be in the same room or on the payroll.

Sometimes we forget how far we’ve come, and what things used to be like. Technology is such an ingrained part of our modern lives, we can’t even begin to imagine going back to the dim dark ages of 5 or 10 years ago.
